Education & Nuclear Policy Network

CNDSI is developing an educational program to connect its research and practitioner communities with students, educators, and young professionals interested in nuclear disarmament, international cooperation, and sustainability.

The Nuclear Policy Network is an online learning space connecting students, educators, researchers, and young professionals interested in nuclear disarmament, nuclear cooperation, sustainability, and related policy questions.

The Network provides an ongoing space for participants to learn from experts, engage with one another, and explore the historical, political, technical, economic, and social dimensions of nuclear issues. Rather than functioning as a series of one-time events, the Network is designed as a sustained learning community in which participants can return regularly, develop relationships, and deepen their knowledge over time.

The Network is an educational initiative of the Columbia Climate School's Cooperative Nuclear Disarmament and Sustainability Initiative, developed in collaboration with the Soka Institute for Global Solutions (SIGS). The collaboration connects CNDSI's research and practitioner community with SIGS's educational programs and networks of students and alumni interested in nuclear policy and peace.

The initial program will focus on participants from existing nuclear policy and peace education programs, with opportunities to expand the learning community to educators, students, and other members of the public as the Network develops.

Learning Through Dialogue

Sessions will feature conversations with researchers, practitioners, and other experts working on nuclear issues. Participants will have opportunities not only to listen, but also to ask questions, exchange perspectives, and contribute to an ongoing community of learning.

Over time, the Network may also develop opportunities for participants to share their own research, ideas, and projects and to receive feedback from peers and experienced researchers.

An Ongoing Learning Community

The Nuclear Policy Network is intended to grow beyond individual events into a sustained learning space. By bringing together participants across institutions, generations, and areas of expertise, the Network seeks to create opportunities for continued learning and dialogue on nuclear disarmament and cooperation.

The initial pilot will consist of a series of monthly online sessions, with future programming informed by participant interests and experience.
