Perspectives on Peace

Perspectives on Peace is an ongoing series to bring together and to enhance the global and local sustainability community at Columbia and abroad. The series includes film screenings and talks with policymakers, activists and authors. Each session brings public conversations onto topics pertaining to contemporary peace, conflict, and sustainability. We also feature topics on economic and social sustainability and provide networking opportunities for students.

Our most recent POP event (in October of 2024) featured President Moetai Brotherson, Head of State for French Polynesia, in conversation with Professor Jenik Radon. President Moetai discussed the challenges of marine resource development, such as sustainable fishing, nuclear waste, plastic, and deep sea mining. In September of 2024, we welcomed John Marks to discuss his most recent book  FROM VISION TO ACTION: Remaking the World Through Social Entrepreneurship
